Carbon Feasibility Study
The goal of a carbon feasibility study is to assess and establish the viability of a given area as a potential producer of certifiable carbon credits.
The Carbon Tanzania team can carry out an assessment of a project area focusing on the following main points:
- Are your proposed project activities eligible under current carbon market regulations?
- How will project market eligibility differ with activity type – REDD (reduced emissions from deforestation and forest degradation) versus afforestation versus fire management?
- How will your project meet additionality requirements and which areas are more likely than others to meet these requirements?
- What are the socio-economic implications of your carbon market project?
- Should your project be aimed at the compliance (Kyoto-CDM) or the voluntary carbon market?
- Which project certification standards are available and most appropriate for your project?
- How should carbon content and other impacts be monitored?
- Which relevant carbon trading and/or international and governmental REDD initiatives already exist in Tanzania?
- What are the legal and policy barriers, and under what framework and in which areas could carbon forestry best be implemented to provide the maximum additionality and have the greatest impact?
